Every Green Egger raves about how great the grill is - but many agree that limited working space and mobility are a couple of its fallbacks. For that reason, a lot of people buy or build carts to house their green eggs. The carts at local stores are usually upwards of $500, and even the ones on ebay are about $350 plus shipping. For that reason, many people set out to build their own. Below is the cart that my friend Taylor and I built for his green egg.
We used regular southern yellow pine, stained, and applied 3 coats of varnish. We drilled core holes to hide all of the screws and drilled plugs on the drill press and cut them on the band saw. There are no exposed screw heads on the cart. Many people use cedar for their carts to protect against the elements, but we felt 3 coats of varnish and the waterproof cover should be sufficient enough for the cart to last for years. We also added some stone to act as a heat shield underneath the grill along with another piece of stone in the top for hot plates.
